Their style and the character of their improvisation has formed under the influence of many different musical genres: jazz, classical music, folk music, tango. They descend from famous musical family from Zakopane. Prize-winners of many festivals and jazz competitions. They also perform as a soloists with ensembles like Rzeszow Philharmonics, Polish Radio Orchestra and many other groups representing different musical styles. Both Brothers work with Roma Musical Theatre in Warsaw.

8th edition of Silent Movie Festival.Movie: “The Queen of Spades”. Legato Chamber Orchestra with Rafal Rozmus, conductor. Rafal Rozmus – graduate of Karol Lipinski Music School in Lublin, class of violin. He graduated with honors from Musical Institute of Artistic Department of University of Marie Curie – Sklodowska in Lublin, where in 2004-2005 he took a duties of assistent- intern, and in present-day he is a lecturer in Theory of Music Department. During his studies he learned conducting as his specialty in a class of professor Zofia Bernatowicz as well as composition, arrangment and instrumentation in a class of professor Kazimierz Gorski and Andrzej Nikodemowicz.Currently he is working on doctoral thesis in musicology (conducting research on post-war works of polish composers in ethnomusicological aspect). Author of “ Numeral Method of Composing Atonal Music (2002). Composer of 17 movie soundtracks. His work takes a course on two levels: commercial and artistic. He composes vocal, vocal-instrumental, instrumental music as well as symphonic pieces, chamber music, music for children, electric music, music for film and theatre.

8th Edition of Silent Movie Festival.Movies: Polonica of Silent Era- Stacia Napierkowska. Opium String Quartet - one of the most promising string quartets of young generation, that has worked with the best polish arrangers and composers, such as with Maciej Malecki, Wojciech Kilar, among others. One of the main aims of the quartet is promoting polish contemporary chamber music, which can be heard on their debut album, “Back to Melody” recorded in National Philharmonic Hall in Warsaw. The Opium Quartet was created in 2004. It comprises of four musicians all graduates from Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw - Dawid Lubowicz, Anna Szalinska, Magdalena Malecka and Olga Losakiewicz- Marcyniak.

8th Edition of Silent Movie Festival. Movies: Film Avant –garde of 20’s. Al Tango – The musicians from Al Tango can feel the “soul “ of tango so well, the even playing the old polish music hits they are able to enrich them wih dramatic feeling a la Buenos Aires. The ensemble plays tango in dancing-hall forms as well as concert hall style: tango salon, milonga, waltz-tango, tango-song, in vocal and musical arrangments. Al Tango takes inspiration from rich, international tango traditions. Most of the pieces performed by musicians come from the Golden Era of tango – (1920-40) but Al Tango also has in it’s repertoir pieces composed in recent times and also compositions comissioned by the ensemble. The Al Tango’s musical style is a fusion of nostalgia heard in tangos played by orchestras of Osvaldo Pugliese or Anibala Troilo, the romantism of Jerzy Petersburgski and the rebellion and uneasiness of Astor Piazzola with a small doze of present-day irony.

8th Edition of Silent Movie: Early Chaplin’s Burlesques.Performer: Dj hey now mariacki (Pawel Olejniczak), musician, pianist, promoter of culture. As a child he played the violin, giving concerts in Warsaw, Vienna, Copenhagen and Amsterdam. In the years 2003-2005 he studied conducting and composition at the Music Academy in Cracow. Cooperating with “Partus“ agency he created music for documentary movies such as: “Henryk Wars, the bard of Warsaw” (2007- the movie received an award by TV Polonia: “TV Polonia Crystal”), “Piotr Adamczyk – the Actor, who...” (2007), “Polish Cinema on Manhattan”(2006), “Polish stars in Hollywood”. As a pianist he recorded music for a movie by Jerzy Antczak “Chopin- Pragnienie Milosci”(2002). He was an organizer of a series of jazz concerts in club Vinyl and also one of the initiators of “ music and film’ meetings in club Karma(2008-2009).

In 1993 Andrzej Jagodzinski – distinguished polish pianist, arranger and composer – founded a group comprising of drummer Czeslaw Bartkowski and bass player Adam Cegielski. In 1994 they released an album, “Chopin” which has been considered a recording of the year by the readers of Jazz Forum. It also received Frederick – a Polish Musical Industry Prize and Melomani ’94 Prize by Association of Jazz Music Lovers in Lodz.Andrzej Jagodzinski was also rewarded with Polish National Radio Program 3 Award – Mateusz ’94 for “ Jazz in Chopin and Poetry in Music. Recently the Trio was involved in an innovative project: a concert of polish jazz music in classical musical working with string orchestra and brilliant polish artists: Grazyna Auguscik, Jadwiga Kotnowska and Henryk Miskieicz. The project has been already introduced to the public in National Philharmonic in Warsaw.At the same concert hall the Trio has performed with Aneta Lasik and Janusz Strobel playing compositions from the album “Russian Songs” (Cwietajewa , Lermontow, Okudzawa, Wysocki.). The Trio has received Golden Recordin 2000 for Chopin Once More album. They have performed with italian pianist Giovanni Mirabasi since 2002 playing concerts worldwide. In 2003 they have recorded an album“ Giovanni Mirabasi and Andrzej Jagodzinski Trio” also released in Japan and ranking on a top positions of the jazz charts. In 2006 the group has released, both in Japan and Poland, another album, “C- minor”.

The 8th Annual of Silent Movie Festival is starting. The National Philharmonics has asked Legato Artist Managament for the cooperation and help with organizing this years event.There are nine movies in the repertoir which are the movie adaptations of their literary originals.The titles like : “The Murder of fFather Gwizjus”(France 1908), considered a masterpiece by D.W Griffith and Carl Dreyer, “The Saga of Gosta Berling” directed by Mauritz Stiller ( Sweden 1924)- originally a 4 hour movie starring Greta Garbo, or “Hamlet” (Germany 1920) with swedish actress Asta Nielsen in a title role – all of those indicate coinherence between different forms of arts in cinema since it’s very beginnings.Since the only polish international silent movie star was Pola Negri, the other actress will be introduced : quite unfamiliar Stacia Napierkowska , who had gained a significant position in french and italian cinematography.We will show three out of 86 movies that she had played in between 1908-1926: “ The Hunchback of Notre- Dame “ (france 1911) , “Max versus Tartarin ( France 1912) and “ Zemganno Brothers” ( France 1925). We will also show short movies belonging to the movie avant-garde of 20’s , among others “ The Mechanic Ballet” by Fernando Leger and Dudley Murphy (France 1924) , “ Chess Fever” by Wsiewolod Putkin and Nikolaj Szpikowski ( USSR 1925) and “An Andalusian Dog” by Luis Bunuel ( France 1928); also the “Early Chaplin’s Burlesques” ( 1914-1916) as well as Greta Garbo’s advertising films.

Jan Losakiewicz and Przemyslaw Marcyniak have been invited to the project consisting of three dance compositions titled: “Lowickie malowanki”( Lowician Paintings), “Na slaskim polu“ ( On Silesian Field) and “Na krakowskim rynku” (On Cracow Square). The compositions will be performed by Dance and Music Folk Ensemble “Poloneziaki“ in Bielawa. Legato Artist Managment is coordinating the project which will last from May to December 2010. Jan Losakiewicz is a choreographer for the project whilst Przemyslaw Marcyniak a composer and sound engineer.

On the 30th of April 2010, Kama Grott, brilliant polish oboe player is releasing a new album. The album is titled: “Romance – French Music for Oboe and Piano”. The album was prepared in Rose Studio of Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Centre in New York. The sound engineer for the project was Leszek Wojcik, a Carnegie Hall sound engineer. This time Kama Grott has chosen to play chamber pieces by french composers: Faure, Poulenc and Saint – Saens. The artist has invited to the project a pianist, Krzysztof Stanienda and bassonist Artur Kasperek. Kama Grott graduated from Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw in a class of prof. Stanislaw Malikowski. Since 2006 she has been involved with prestigious music company Universal Music Poland. The artists also works as a session musician, recording film and theatre music. We will also show short movies belonging to the movie avant-garde of 20’s , among others “ The Mechanic Ballet” by Fernando Leger and Dudley Murphy (France 1924) , “ Chess Fever” by Wsiewolod Putkin and Nikolaj Szpikowski ( USSR 1925) and “An Andalusian Dog” by Luis Bunuel ( France 1928); also the “Early Chaplin’s Burlesques” ( 1914-1916) as well as Greta Garbo’s advertising films.

On the 1st of March, 7 pm. , in La Madeleine Church in Paris the High Mass will take place as a a celebration of 200 Anniversary of Frederick Chopin’s birthday. After a Mass a concert will be held with Marta Guzik (piano ) – performing pieces by Chopin and Robert Jezierski (bass- baritone) and Anna Wozniak (soprano) with Aleksander Konicki accompanying on piano, both performing Giuseppe Verdi’s arias from operas.

The 7th Annual Silent Film Days will be organised by and held at the Iluzjon Filmoteka Narodowa cinema on 22-25 October 2009. The event date is not incidental as it coincides with the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Polish feature film art, hence this year's festival will be devoted primarily to Polish film. A special screening of the oldest Polish film shot in late 1907 and early 1909 entitled Pruska kultura (Prussian Culture) discovered recently in French film archives and digitally restored at the Filmoteka Narodowa will be the centerpiece of the closing night. The other film of the evening will be an adaptation of Henryk Sienkiewicz’s novella Bartek Zwycięzca (Bartek the Winner) (1923) by Edward Puchalski. Live music performed by LEGATO Chamber Orchestra, a 13-member orchestra conducted by composer Rafał Rozmus.

A concert entitled ,,Missa Brevis - The Last Seven Words of Father Jerzy Popiełuszko" by Christophe Voise - composer and conductor featured the Polish Radio Orchestra and tenor Dariusz Stachura, violinist Dawid Lubowicz as soloists. A concert was held to mark the 25th anniversary of the murder of the legendary Solidarity chaplain by the comunist security police. The honorary patronage of the concert was given by Archbishop Kazimierz Nycz.
